About Us

Our centre provides a warm, stimulating and educational environment where children are respected, safe and secure.  Each child's physical cognitive, social and emotional development acts as a guide to the daily programming which also involves a wide variety of self-directed independent and group activities. Each child is nurtured in situations that stimulate curiosity, initiative, independence, self-esteem and respect for peers and adults.  Our philosophy is rooted in 'How Does Learning Happen' (Ontario's Pedagogy for the Early Years) in that we firmly believe in each child's competency, their capabilities, their sense of curiosity and the incredible potential we know each child possesses.  We also meet all expectations laid out in the Child Care and Early Years Act.

Our program goals of the Kampus Kids program focus on the whole child, by creating a positive learning environment that allows each child to develop gradually at their own rate while meeting their physical, emotional, social and cognitive needs.  Our learning environment encourages a warm, affectionate and secure extended family atmosphere which promotes safety, nutrition, heathy living and personal well-being. Each child will be treated with the utmost respect.  The teaching staff is committed to providing positive interactions that foster exploration, play and inquiry.

We are a non-profit organization licensed by the Ministry of Education Child Care Quality Assurance and Licensing Offices. We opened at St. Lawrence college in April 1999 (after being at the Brockville Psychiatric Hospital for 13 years).  Due to the expansion of St. Lawrence college, we found ourselves yet again looking for a new home.  Through the years we have added to our Kampus Kids family including five off-sites.  In 2005, we relocated to the former Tincap public school where we offered care for 10 years, and in 2015 we began providing quality care at our Commonwealth location.
